Transfer due to complete on 8th June

Post by admin » Sun Jun 05, 2016 9:29 am

17th May 2016
I signed up to the SSE Ultrafast Fibre (Up to 76 Mbps) + Talk Anytime package @ £21.00/mth online late in the evening on this day. Within a few minutes of completing the application I received the "Welcome! Your profile requires activation" and "Your online account has been activated" e-mails. Shortly after I received the order confirmation e-mail "Your phone and broadband order confirmation". This e-mail didn't detail a lot, just the telephone number that was being transferred over along with the cancellation details.

28th May 2016
Received a letter in the post from BT confirming that my phone line and broadband would be transferring over 'another service provider'. This letter confirmed that the services would be transferred over to them on 8th June 2016. If this is correct there is no need to do anything.

1st June 2016 - AM
Welcome pack received from SSE included details of my package, costs, direct debit details as well as the terms and conditions for both the broadband and phone services. See the following thread for some photos of the welcome pack: http://www.discussisp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=27

1st June 2016 - PM
The new Technicolor TG589vac router was delivered by ParcelForce See the following thread for some photos of the router: http://www.discussisp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=28

[I will update this thread as I receive any additional details and/or when my connection is transferred over]

My transfer is due to take place tomorrow so I thought I would take some speed tests today before the move for comparison.

Package: BT Infinity 1

7th June 2016
Just received a text message: "This text is to remind you that an OpenReach engineer has been booked to attend your property on 08/06/2016 during the timeslot of 8am to 1pm to install your SSE Ultrafast Fibre BB. Please ensure that you are available at the property. Many thanks for choosing SSE."

I'm hoping this is a mistake as I already have a FTTC service and an OpenReach engineer is not required.

They wont arrive if you already have fibre, ring them up and you will get £30 compo, if you plug in your SSE router and it works then engineer wont attend

My transfer occurred in the early hours of this morning.

I've connected my router just now and done an initial set of speed results (which I have also posted on my speed test results thread) - see http://www.discussisp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=47

Here is a copy of the results:

I can confirm that the telephone service has also been transferred over and indirect telephone prefixes (1899, 18866, 18185) work on the SSE phone service.

What was the SSE estimate of your expected speed?

Btw, what do we call you besides 'admin'? :)

The fibre range given for my line by SSE was between 22.4mbps (impacted) - 58.1mbps (clean).

You can call me James :)
