Has anyone tried an alternative dns setting to try and overcome the speed issues and some of the bottlenecks? Not really sure how to do it as it seems to change the dns on the SSE router means having to telnet in.

I've looked online for telnet instructions for the SSE router, but there is scant information out there. Using the command telnet 192.168.1.1 gives an access denied on port 23 message :(

Hi Mark,

You should be able to change the DNS settings via the web interface.

When logged into the web interface it is within in 'Local Network' section and then 'Show Advanced'.

There is a text box in there for adding DNS servers as shown below:

Hope this helps

Let's see if it makes a difference (although I doubt it).

Has anyone been able to change dns using this method. I am trying to add a family friendly dns that blocks adult sites but this has not worked. I used the yandex family friendly address 77.88.8.7,77.88.8.3

Thanks

SSE should have filters that can be applied, have you asked them to activate them?

Filters can be applied online, or (if you can find the correct p/w ...) though the router. I admit it's not fully inutiative, but .... ;)
