New Here - Video Calling - Google Duo etc.

The other half is away on holiday in dubai, and I video call her daily, I've found that when I'm at home the video calling works, but loses picture and lags ALOT, when at work using Spitfire, or when I switch to 4G I have NO problems at all.

I'm guessing this is more traffic management by that lovely supplier Daisy, any thoughts on how to get this traffic shaping stopped, or how to bypass it or something, anything, as its getting damn annoying!

You'll need to contact SSE and get the ball rolling that way. Alternatively you could use Skype/FaceTime as these aren't having issues.

What will SSE do, or can they do? I've also noticed that the speeds in the evening can drop dramatically, I'm guessing there's quite a bit of contention on the line, i.e. lots of users local.

Don't think it is local users. If you read through the posts regarding speedtests, you will find that slow speeds during the afternoons & evenings are a recurring complaint.

I myself am about to leave and go back to BT, since SSE/Daisy have not been able to provide me with a minimum acceptable speed for almost the entire period I was with them.

All I can say is raise a complaint, and if you are lucky they offer to send an engineer after about 7 weeks...

Best of luck!

yeah, just noticed slow down when trying to view a video, ran a speed test on testmynet and found that it maxed out at 6/7MB - POOR performance, this is NOT on.

Performance logs below...

mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss Type Test Size Score Mbps
08/26/2016 21:38:20 DN 44.5 MB 8.19
08/26/2016 21:40:54 DN 44.4 MB 18.27
08/26/2016 21:47:03 DN 54.4 MB 16.71
08/26/2016 21:47:32 UP 18.1 MB 16.28
08/30/2016 18:39:52 DN 132 MB 69.14
08/30/2016 18:40:15 UP 16.3 MB 12.84
08/30/2016 19:02:58 DN 60.6 MB 49.55
08/30/2016 19:03:20 UP 18.4 MB 15.78
08/30/2016 20:35:10 DN 6.3 MB 5.57
08/30/2016 20:35:39 UP 5.5 MB 3.09
08/30/2016 20:36:01 DN 6.2 MB 9.5
08/30/2016 20:36:35 UP 6.2 MB 2.11

I'm assuming no one has been able to get this sorted out? I'm not willing to pay the money I'm paying for such a poor service.

I've logged a call with them, and I will be sending these logs over whenever I get a moment.

Start doing speedtests, screen shot issues(i used netflix to show it barely got 1080p, let alone 2160p) do file download test, then tehter to your phone and do the same. Take evidence from all and collect in the word doc. I never had to get an engineer out and was allowed to leave penalty free, after 7 weeks.

Thanks All...

I've been doing speed tests over and over, I'm going to keep at them about their traffic management/over subcription.

I'll run the netflix tests every evening see what speeds I'm getting, I don't use netflix, instead I have amazon video who as far as I am aware do not have a speed test site.

To be fair it's been running well when i first signed up, but just recently (the past week or so) its been horrendous.

Where do you recommend I do file download tests from?
