Hi Joe,

Yes, I transferred from BT to SSE and kept the same phone number - I didn't ask to keep it or specifically request it, it was just taken for granted I suppose.

Thanks

You should keep your old number as if you are on a BT supplied line, the pool of numbers are all BT network ones. The problems arise (as did mine) when you transfer from a LLU operator (Sky, Talk Talk) or cable (Virgin) as they don't like releasing "their" numbers.

I've had the same number for over 20 years. I moved to Sky for a couple of years and then last year I moved back to BT. Following the BT price rise I took the opportunity to leave BT and jump to SSE. I haven't had any problems keeping my number, but going from Sky - BT - SSE probably helped instead of Sky- SSE.

I moved from BT to SSE and kept my number too.

I've never had any issues before. I've moved from BT -> TalkTalk -> BT -> SSE
