Mine was wireless, I have a Chromebook doing the regular speedtests though wired direct to the ethernet port. Will try and run another from there.

Just in case you are feeling discriminated against, Mark :D , despite 2 days of excellent performance, mine is back to showing it's usual level .

packet loss starting to rear its head again yesterday

And single threaded download test results - 2 days excellent results, and then back to the usual dip

A shame that is  Thought it was too good to be true :)

The tap3 failures are coming thick and fast now:

I am slightly concerned there is now more to it than just congestion, although congestion will be playing a very large part in the process. For the multi thread test to be running so low as well could possibly mean an issue elsewhere. Thank god BTOR are coming on Friday, although it is a morning visit and the problem may not manifest itself.

I would bet a pint that your line is working fine
Was just reading through this forum (only just discovered it!), clicked through that link and was surprised to find one of my posts!

My connection improved a week or two ago, while my traceroutes were going through the ar88 router - seen a massive deterioration again over the last couple of days now that my connection is going through ar86:

Updated samknows whitebox downstream results - getting worse again but not quite as bad as Oct-Dec yet:

You can see my migration date from BT to SSE on 1st October last year; the issues weren't fixed until 19th November when the peak time speed went back up to the speed I was getting with BT. I was actually out of the country from mid September until mid February, so the terrible speeds didn't bother me (I wanted a cheap ISP while I was away to keep the house/CCTV/heating/media server ticking over), but if this latest bout of slowdowns keep up much longer I'll start looking to break my contract early. Not a massive gamer and Netflix still seems to be working fine so I'll wait it out for another month or so!

Upstream speeds not impacted whatsoever:

Weirdly latency rose by c. 5ms while I was moved over to the unaffected ar88 router (guessing it's further away from me) and this has since come back down now that I'm back on ar86:
chart_1469485127.png
Packet loss also initially spiked up massively (to 27%!) when I was first moved over to ar88, which has came down to zero again late last week before spiking up to 20% the last couple of days. I'm guessing they're doing stuff behind the scenes to fix the issues, but ultimately just need to pay for a whole bunch more capacity for their massive influx of customers.

When BT come round, ensure you show them your graphs and fully explain the situation, the lady that visited me said it looked like congestion and she was going to note that down, the only speed test sites they are allowed to use are

http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/
http://www.speedtest.net/

Once you can prove there is nothing wrong your end , chances are you will be able to leave, there is no reason they can make you stay

imho (based on what I am seeing on my connection), I think any performance differences between gateways is limited to short periods where one might be underutilised and other's effectvely "full" . I really don't think that there generally are over/under utilised gateways if assessed over a few days period. I have been on ar88 for a while now, and had a couple of days of excellent performance, and it's dropped back to the usual afternoon/evening dips ...

Very strange. My speeds have been pretty consistent again today, bit of a jerky graph:

Ironically, I appear to be on ar88 since my last tap3 test.

likewise ... The usual afternoon downward drop today hasn't happened here (yet) - it is remaining very constant - a bit like it was last week before a couple of days poor peformance .... Will have to see how it behaves itself later.

btw : hello to dusty :) Nice to see a (relatively) long term SSE customer here - your original post on tbb made a lot of sense to me :)
Oh - and I am seeing some odd latency switches as well - 5mSecs gets added for a number of hours and then drops back - someone is doing something somewhere methinks :)
